About the Mini Minds Study

The study focuses on how babies explore the world around them, and how they learn and change over the first three years of life. If you sign up to participate, we will ask you to come in for four visits – one visit when your child is between 12 and 18 months old, and then another visit every six months until right after your child turns three. These visits will take place at our lab on the ASU Tempe campus or at the Edna Vihel Arts Center in Tempe - whichever is more convenient for you. We provide free parking and free childcare for any siblings/other children you need to bring with you!

During Visits 1, 2, and 3…

Your child will: Play with some toys with an experimenter (40-50 minutes)

You will: Fill out some questionnaires about your child and family (40-50 minutes)

Together, you and your child will: Play with some new toys (10 minutes) and have a snack (10 minutes)

During Visit 4…

Your child will: Do a few activities to help us get a sense of how ready they are to learn basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts.

You will: Fill out some questionnaires about your child and family (10-15 minutes)

You and your child are welcome to stop or take breaks any time!
